2025 WELCOME
2025 Swim for Brooke Recipient

The 9th Annual Brooke E. Posey Swim-a-Thon & Family FUNraiser proudly announces that our 2025 recipient is Heart of Passion!

As a 16-year-old with cancer, Savannah Solomon wanted a break for her hospital friends, and she planned a weekend retreat for other teens with cancer to hang out, feel like VIPs, and just be teens.  She named this retreat “Red Carpet Day,” and her friends from school helped her host the event.

"For the 20 years since then, our “for teens, from teens” programming model has allowed Heart of Passion to connect teens living with cancer to each other to form an emotional support structure in an environment that only teens themselves could create. Simultaneously, our teen leaders personally experience the value and purpose of their work and compassion while they themselves plan and execute each summer’s retreat." - Savannah Solomon

Testimonials

“It was a tremendous honor for Hope House to be selected as a beneficiary of The Brooke E. Posey Swim-A-Thon at the Southern Yacht Club. This event not only raised vital funds but also increased awareness of our mission to help children heal and seek justice after experiencing child abuse. The Swim-A-Thon was incredibly enjoyable, and it quickly became our team's favorite fundraiser to date.”

"We are incredibly grateful to have been chosen as the recipient of the 2022 Swim for Brooke family fun day. It was wonderful and inspiring to see the children and families of the community come together for a day of FUNraising! These funds will be used to support children fighting pediatric cancer with funds dedicated to research and by helping to build Walker’s Imaginarium at New Orleans Children’s Hospital. Walker’s Imaginarium will be a 12,000 square foot space packed with family fun spaces for music, art, games and SO much more. Walker’s Imaginarium will be a place that children undergoing treatment can explore, find joyful moments and just be a kid while in the hospital."

"We were deeply honored to have been chosen as the 2024 recipient of the Brooke E Posey Swim-A-Thon, and are still shocked that a whopping $15,500 was raised for STAIR! This fundraiser helped us purchase and print materials such as writing journals and student guides. We had a blast working with the BEP team, and were struck by how close-knit the community of support was- from the Southern Yacht Club and Seagull Swim Teams, to the neighbors and family, everyone was all in on the Swim-A-Thon and gave so much of their time. We were so grateful to have been a part and look forward to supporting next year's recipient!"

The funds raised from the Swim for Brooke swim-a-thon allowed us to continue to provide support services to children with life-threatening diseases and their families throughout Louisiana. this helped with giving gift cards for unexpected costs in the hospital and helped provide gifts for the children and their siblings, all of this at no cost for the family.
